Update 0.9.17.0
Hey Fighters!
Winter’s out, sun’s trying to clock in, and we figured it’s the perfect time to drop a beefy update!
We’re talking limited time events, higher level caps for both your account and fighter mastery, a loyalty shop, custom maps created by the community to slide into matchmaking, balance tweaks, and a whole lot more where that came from.
Okay enough yapping, let’s get down to the meat and potatoes of this update and see what exciting things are coming up:
Limited Time Events
As you probably already know, we recently had the Black Magic event, and there are plenty more limited time events coming over the next few months to keep you busy!
These events will pop up every now and then for a limited, shorter than regular periods. The themes will begin to repeat at some point, maybe 6 months… maybe a year…. maybe 10 years. Who knows! We sure dont! The only thing we can say for sure that, if you see a LTE activating, you better jump in and grab all the gear you can. What a great way to build up your ever growing collection.
Keep your eyes peeled as we’ll be announcing more very soon!
Level 100 Progression
We’re aware some of you have been chilling a little too comfortably at Level 90, so as requested by the Community, we’ve decided to make the change you guys have been pretty keen on having.
So as of now, level cap will be increased to 100! More levels, more grind, more rewards. Expect our new Neon City Collection weaponry, avatars, frames and currency to go with it!
Level 30 Fighter Progression
Oh we’re not just boosting your account level and calling it a day, we’re also increasing all fighter masteries from 20 to 30!
Again you’ll receive more rewards only available in progression, including Neon City Collection weaponry, avatars, frames and additional currency.
Loyalty Shop
Over in the Web store, we are opening up the Squadblast Loyalty Shop. If you’ve been purchasing items in the web shop, you’ve likely acquired some Ultrahorse Points that come with each purchase. A great way to add a discount to other purchases, but now you can also spend them directly on items. The main new addition is a brand new weapon case - The Loyalty Weapon Case!
Inside? The Tesla Coil weapon collection. These cases work just like the weapon parcel and only cost 100 lockpicks, keeping it cheap and cheerful. And let’s be real, we know a lot of you have been stacking lockpicks for ages, now you’ve finally got a good excuse to spend them.
We’ll be adding more items in the Webshop as well as expanding the offerings of weapons and exclusive collections that come from the case over time too, so keep an eye out. We’ll let you know whenever something new gets released into the wild.
Weapon case cards from previous events will also be added to the web shop.
Map Graduations
We’ve been checking out all the custom maps you’ve been dropping in the level hub lately, and you guys have been smashing it over the last few months! So much so that we’re rolling out a graduation system and starting to add some of your maps into Matchmaking!
If you want to get involved, simply make your map in the level editor, post it in our Discord Level Hub with all the details, and you’re in the running. If you need some help, hit up the Level Editor Guide channel on Discord for tips and tricks.
We’ll go through every map you submit and give it a proper deep dive to make sure it’s ready for Matchmaking. If one of your maps catches our eye but still needs a few fixes or tweaks, we’ll hit you up with exactly what needs sorting. Once you’ve made the changes, we’ll check it again and keep working with you until it’s good to go for Matchmaking.
Our team’s going to regularly check out the maps in the Level Hub, and if one’s not quite there yet, we’ll provide you with feedback on request and let you know what tweaks they need.
You’ll earn a frames and bit-chips based on how many of your maps make it into Matchmaking:
1 Map = Bronze Builder’s Mark
5 Maps = Silver Builder’s Mark
10 Maps = Gold Builder’s Mark
20+ Maps = Platinum Builder’s Mark
5,000 Bit-Chips per Graduated map
We are working on improving the level editor and it’s overarching integration into the game, so expect to see Custom Win conditions, Improved Bot behavior and other changes that would open up the field of your imaginations.
New additions to Map Rotation
Now that we’ve gone over the Map Graduation process, and matchmaking’s been feeling a bit stale lately, we’ve decided to turn things up a bit. A classic is making its return, and we’re stacking the rotation with brand new community made maps that go hard!
